PMM Interview Prep Checklist: Everything You Need Before the Call

This checklist ensures you walk into every PMM interview thoroughly prepared and confident.
One Week Before the Interview
Company Research
Understand their market position
- [ ] Read their website and core messaging
- [ ] Identify their stated target personas
- [ ] Understand their positioning vs main competitors
- [ ] Review their latest press releases and announcements
- [ ] Look at their CEO/leadership messaging
- [ ] Understand their product category and market
Analyze their competitive landscape
- [ ] Identify 3-5 main competitors
- [ ] Visit their competitors' websites and note positioning differences
- [ ] Read 2-3 recent analyst reports about the space (G2, Gartner, etc.)
- [ ] Note where the market leader is strong and where there are gaps
- [ ] Understand the key buying criteria in this market
Understand their customers
- [ ] Review their customer case studies on their website
- [ ] Look up 3-5 customer companies on LinkedIn and understand their industry
- [ ] Review their customer testimonials and identify common themes
- [ ] Search for mentions of them on Twitter/industry forums
- [ ] Understand their target customer's business challenges
Review recent company activity
- [ ] Check their LinkedIn company page for recent news
- [ ] Review any recent funding announcements

Day Before the Interview
Logistics Preparation
For in-person interviews
- [ ] Know exactly where the office is located
- [ ] Plan your route and timing (aim to arrive 10 minutes early)
- [ ] Bring printed copies of your resume (even though they have it)
- [ ] Bring a small notepad to take notes
- [ ] Wear professional attire appropriate for the company culture

For video interviews
